Seismic Micro-Technology management is driven to provide intuitive, integrated interpretation solutions for all of our customers. We understand that our customers have advanced degrees in geosciences, not computer science. So we remain committed to making our solutions user friendly and easy to manage. We also recognize that software is not all that our customers need from SMT to be successful. This is why we focus equally on delivering the training, support, and services necessary to keep our global customer base happy.
Our Management Team, made up of sales, operations, finance, marketing and development, has helped SMT retain its position as the leader in Windows-based geoscientific interpretation software. Each member of our team has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their department, helping to ensure that customers get maximum value for their investment in our solutions. By doubling our customer base in the last four years, SMT has proved to be up to the challenge of providing the most user-friendly products that are both fully functional and have immense value to geoscientists all over the world.
Arshad Matin, President and CEO
Mr. Arshad Matin joined Seismic Micro-Technology in June of 2007 where he is President, CEO, and board member. He is responsible for the strategy development, operations planning, and recruitment/development of world-class talent for SMT. Under his leadership, the company has enjoyed unprecedented growth in revenues and profits. He has led SMT's expansion in new geographies and market segments which has allowed the company to become the global leader in G&G software market.
Before joining SMT, Mr. Matin was General Manager of the Compliance and Security Management business unit at Symantec Corporation which he joined in January 2006 through the company's acquisition of BindView Corporation. At BindView, Mr. Matin was president and COO, directly overseeing products, sales, marketing, corporate development and services functions. He led the successful turn-around at BindView which established the company as the leader in IT policy compliance.
Prior to BindView, Mr. Matin was a partner at the Houston office of McKinsey & Company where he served clients in both high tech and energy industries. He started his career as software developer for Oregon-based Mentor Graphics Corporation.
Mr. Matin earned his MBA from the Wharton School, MS in computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and BE in electrical engineering from Regional Engineering College in India. Mr. Matin, his wife and three daughters are residents of Houston.
Stan Abele, VP of Geoscience Technology
Mr. Stan Abele started at Seismic Micro-Technology in 2004. As Vice President of Geoscience Technology, he is responsible for working with customers to understand their geoscience requirements and work with Product Management on defining new product direction.
Mr. Abele has 20 years of geoscience application development industry experience. He began his career at Pennzoil as a geologist and geophysicist. He then moved to Landmark, supplier of software and services for the upstream Exploration and Production industry, where he stayed for 15 years. Working in a number of management positions within R&D, he planned, directed and supervised program development and implementation of software products utilized within the energy industry.
Mr. Abele has a BS in geology from the University of Texas, Austin.
Jitesh Chanchani, VP of Product Management and Business Development
Mr. Jitesh Chanchani joined Seismic Micro-Technology in January, 2011. As Vice President of Product Management and Business Development, he is responsible for defining and executing SMT's product strategy and roadmap, and for developing new business opportunities with strategic partners.
Mr. Chanchani has more than 15 years of experience in the technology industry, including several years in the oil and gas vertical. He began his career at Schlumberger as a geoscientist from where he moved on to management and technology roles at leading software companies. Prior to joining SMT, Mr. Chanchani worked at VMware as director of strategy and corporate development. Previously, he also served as director of product management at Symantec where he managed the product line for the company’s compliance and security management business.
Jitesh Chanchani holds an MS in petroleum and engineering geology from Texas A&M University, and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Chanchani, his wife, and two sons are residents of Houston.
Indy Chakrabarti, Chief Marketing Officer
Mr. Indy Chakrabarti joined Seismic Micro-Technology in January of 2008 where he is Chief Marketing Officer. He is responsible for overseeing the global marketing strategies and execution for SMT.
Prior to joining SMT, Mr. Chakrabarti worked within Symantec marketing and product management. He oversaw go-to-market strategy for the market share leading, multi-million dollar, security & compliance management business unit. He has also held marketing positions at NetIQ (Attachmate) and Storage Provider.
Mr. Chakrabarti holds a BS in electrical & computer engineering from Rice University and a MS in logistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Chakrabarti, his wife and two twin boys are residents of Houston.
Randy Harvey, VP of Development
Mr. Randy Harvey joined Seismic Micro-Technology in 2008 where he is Vice President of Development. He is responsible for SMT's Product Development.
Before joining SMT, Mr. Harvey was managing partner and founder of EnoVenture Group. Prior, he was senior vice president of Solutions Development and Delivery for the Reynolds and Reynolds Company. Mr. Harvey led the successful restructuring and upgrading of the development organization that led to a 10% productivity improvement each year of his tenure.
From 1992 to 2008, as vice president of Software Development at Sterling Commerce, Mr. Harvey directed the successful organizational and technical transition of a mainframe based development organization to an organization that delivered the industry's leading portfolio of UNIX and Windows based electronic commerce products.
Mr. Harvey earned his BA from the University of Maryland College Park.
TengBeng Koid, President International
Mr. TengBeng Koid joined Seismic Micro-Technology's international team in January 2010 as President International, overseeing sales and operations in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and Africa. Mr. Koid has proven experience in building relationships with National Oil Companies and will manage SMT's accelerating growth into international markets.
Before joining SMT, Mr. Koid served as the executive vice-president and COO for Global Business Development at ION Geophysical, which joined in 2004. During Koid's tenure at ION, his tireless dedication helped the company grow significantly. Prior to ION, Koid worked for Halliburton/Landmark as vice-president/general manager where he oversaw expansion into the Asia Pacific. Koid also took on various roles at Landmark including vice-president of Global Business Development and vice-president for Asset Performance Consulting. Koid later moved to Halliburton where he was vice-president with accountabilities over selected National Oil Companies. Prior to joining Landmark, he was a senior manager for IBM specializing in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Koid has an MBA from Bath University and graduated with honors from the University Science Malaysia with a bachelor degree in computer science. Mr. Koid is based out of Houston.
Christopher Lewis, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Christopher Lewis started at Seismic Micro-Technology in July of 1993. He is currently the Chief Technology Officer, with responsibility for strategic product research and development as well as providing guidance on integrating new technology into the SMT Product Suite. Mr. Lewis was the original architect of SMT's flagship product 2d/3dPAK. Additionally, he led numerous development efforts that resulted in the successful release of SynPAK, ModPAK, TracePAK, EarthPAK, AVOPAK, CGMPAK and Tunnel L. He spearheaded the effort for taking the SMT Suite from a single user application to a multi-user enterprise interpretation system.
Mr. Lewis received his BS and MS in computer science from the University of Houston. Mr. Lewis, his wife and three children are residents of Houston.
Jake Pyles, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Jake Pyles joined Seismic Micro-Technology in August of 2007 as Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance, accounting, tax and treasury activities. In addition to these responsibilities, he manages the Human Resources and Legal areas for the company.
Before joining SMT, Mr. Pyles was senior vice president of Finance at McAfee Security which he joined in 2004. At McAfee, Mr. Pyles managed the company's worldwide accounting, tax and operations functions. He also built the company's first sales enablement and operations team.
Prior to McAfee, Mr. Pyles was vice president of Finance for Remedy Software where he led the acquisition and integration of the unit into BMC Software. From 1995 to 2002, he worked for BMC Software in various Finance and Corporate Planning roles. In addition, Mr. Pyles worked two years with Coopers & Lybrand in the Oil & Gas audit practice.
Mr. Pyles holds a BA in business administration and accounting from Southern Methodist University and a MBA from the University of Texas. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. Mr Pyles, his wife and daughter are residents of Houston.
Bill Stephenson, VP of Sales, Americas
Mr. Bill Stephenson joined Seismic Micro-Technology in March of 2008 as Vice President of Sales, Americas. He is responsible for driving revenue growth in South America & Canada, and maintaining market share leadership in the United States.
Before joining SMT, Mr. Stephenson was Sr. Director of Solution Sales, covering the Central United States for Symantec Corporation. Additionally, he's held various sales and leadership roles for over 20 years, including senior sales leadership positions for nearly 10 years at BindView Corporation where he was instrumental in its growth.
Mr. Stephenson earned his BBA in finance from the University of Houston, and is a 4 year veteran of the US Army, serving in South Korea, Germany and in Southwest Asia during Desert Storm. Mr. Stephenson, his wife, two sons and daughter reside in the Houston area.
