In 2008, SMT opened offices in Moscow, Russia and Calgary, Canada. SMT now has facilities in Houston, Croydon (UK), Singapore, Russia, and Canada providing training and support to SMT customers worldwide.
In June 2007, SMT received strategic investment from Technology Crossover Ventures and JMI Equity to recapitalize the company. Founder Thomas Smith was replaced by Arshad Matin as the new CEO and member of the Board of Directors.
